The tubular dryer is a large-scale continuous tube bundle drying equipment, which was successfully developed after years of scientific research. The tubular dryer adopts indirect heating, and 1-5 rows of heating tubes are arranged in concentric circles of equal length inside the rotating cylinder. Drying is carried out by heat transfer between the heating tubes. This type of drying equipment is also called a heat transfer heating dryer or a steam bundle tubular dryer. The tubular dryer is designed to provide an efficient and energy-saving drying solution, which is suitable for large-scale continuous drying processing of various materials.

The main functions of the tubular dryer

Long Residence Time

The material in the dryer forms a ring-shaped vertical layer and moves slowly downward from top to bottom, with a residence time of up to one hour. This allows sufficient time for the moisture in the material to evaporate.

Efficient Heat Transfer

High-temperature flue gas is directly introduced into the top of the dryer through the central draft flue, where it encounters the wet material just entering the dryer. The material can quickly and extensively absorb the heat from the high-temperature flue gas, rapidly evaporating the surface moisture and effectively eliminating any blockage caused by wet material.

Uniform Hot Air Distribution

The design of the ring-shaped thick material layer ensures that the hot flue gas distributes evenly as it penetrates the wet material layer, preventing the formation of wind tunnels. This enhances heat efficiency, reduces coal consumption, and ensures the quality of drying.

Drying Reflow Zone Design

The design of the drying reflow zone raises the material to a temperature of 80-100℃ in the final drying stage, maintaining it for about fifteen minutes to fully evaporate the residual moisture inside the material. At this point, the exhaust gas temperature reaches approximately 200℃. This exhaust gas is then reintroduced into the hot air furnace mixing chamber via a high-pressure fan, where it mixes with flue gas at about 900℃. This process lowers the high-temperature flue gas to the desired drying temperature (such as 750℃), significantly improving heat energy utilization.

Built-in Dust Removal System

The tubular dryer comes equipped with an anti-condensation long-bag dust collector that utilizes advanced PLC control technology. This system addresses technical challenges such as large fluctuations in flue gas volume, high moisture content, and varying dust properties when drying different materials. It reduces system resistance, enhances the ventilation capacity of the dryer, and significantly increases the dryer’s output.

The structure of the tubular dryer

Main Rotor System

The main rotor system is the core component of the dryer. For a tubular dryer, the rotor typically consists of a series of tubes (such as shell-and-tube) or other shapes (such as disc types). These tubes or shapes rotate to transfer and distribute heat, allowing the material to dry. During rotation, these tubes or discs are supported by bearings at both ends. One end is fixed, while the other end can move freely to absorb thermal expansion.

Drive System

The drive system consists of the main motor and the reduction system (such as cycloidal pinwheel reduction and gear reduction). This system drives the rotation of the rotor system.

Piping System

The piping system includes regulating valves, metal hoses, and rotary joints. It is used to deliver steam or other heat sources into the dryer and to expel the generated waste gas and moisture.

Exhaust and Dust Removal System

This system uses an induced draft fan for exhaust and is equipped with wet dust removal devices to recover hot water and dust, maintaining a clean drying environment.

Heat Source System

The heat source system provides the heat required for the drying process. The heat source can be steam, natural gas, biomass fuel, electricity, etc.

Feeding System

The feeding system, such as a feeder, is used to deliver the material to be dried into the dryer.

Transport System

The transport system, such as a conveyor, moves the material during the drying process to ensure even heating.

Drying Chamber

The drying chamber is where the material undergoes the drying process. The interior of the drying chamber may form different temperature and humidity zones to meet the drying needs of the material.

Discharge System

The discharge system, such as the discharge end, is used to expel the dried material from the dryer.
